This part
of the computer simulation begins in 1810, sixteen years after
Lavoisier's death on the guillotine. By 1810, John
Dalton's gas
studies have led him to his atomic theory of gas particles. Early
in the development of his theory, Dalton introduced the use of
circular symbols for elements and compounds. Although symbols were
not always popular with chemists, they were powerful. Soon Berzelius would argue that letters should be used as symbols.
Many studies, notably those of Humphry Davy, also had been
made of the relationship between chemistry and electricity.
