Water Softening - Hard and Soft Water with Soap

Description: Soap is added to a sample of tap water and it does not produce suds when shaken. Another sample of tap water is passed through an ion exchange column. Soap is added to the second sample and it produces lots of suds since the calcium ions have been removed.
