Some substances must be heated a lot in order to change their tempreature by only a few degrees. Such substances are said to have a high heat capacity (c), because they can "hold" a lot of heat. Other substances change temperature quickly when heated only a little. These have a low heat capacity because they cannot "hold" so much heat.
