WHAT I DO:
As Laboratory Director, I oversee all aspects of the lab teaching operations for undergraduate courses in the analytical sciences undergraduate program. Courses under my supervision serve over 700 students per year majoring not only in chemistry, but also in areas of food science, medical sciences, environmental science and engineering. Core duties of the position include instructional leadership, curriculum development and implementation, and grant writing. I train, supervise, and mentor about 40 Teaching Assistants (TAs) per year. I manage the stockroom staff and oversee stockroom budgets and inventory, which includes a suite of modern instrumentation that has been incorporated into the undergraduate curriculum for student use. I also mentor and supervise undergraduate independent research projects.
