Calibrating the pH Meter

The response of the meter is directly related to the hydrogen ion concentration. That is, a plot of pH versus concentration is linear, and the equation is in the form of a straight line. In theory this equation is a constant, but in practice this equation is dependent on the temperature and the condition of the electrode. Thus, the meter/electrode should be recalibrated every couple of hours.

There are two common calibration techniques for pH electrodes: one-point calibration, and two-point calibration.
